The Gunners are at a low ebb as they get set to face Gennaro Gattuso's upwardly mobile Rossoneri side in Europe

Crisis-stricken Arsenal head to Italy on Thursday to take on Serie A side AC Milan in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.

Arsene Wenger's men are on a dismal run of form and come into the game against the Rossoneri on the back of four consecutive defeats, losing most recently to Brighton in the Premier League.

Their hopes of achieving a Champions League finish - in the top four - have effectively been extinguished so the Europa League is now their only way of reclaiming a seat at the top table.

Arsenal know winning the Europa League is their only realistic chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League and face a huge test against a resurgent AC Milan.

Sunday's loss at Brighton, an eighth in 14 games in 2018, leaves the Gunners 13 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham and now travel to Italy for a daunting last-16 first-leg clash.

Milan are on a six-game winning streak, a huge contrast to Arsenal's woes, under former player Gennaro Gattuso, though Thursday's game will be the first at San Siro since the tragic passing of Fiorentina captain Davide Astori after the weekend derby for cancelled.

Alexandre Lacazette and Nacho Monreal remain sidelined for Arsenal. The Rossoneri will be without Luca Antonelli, Ignazio Abate and long-term absentee Andrea Conti.

They come up against a Milan side that, conversely, are experiencing an upswing in fortunes, with Gennaro Gattuso finally discovering the formula for success at San Siro.

Start time
AC Milan host Arsenal at San Siro with kick-off scheduled for 6pm on March 8, 2018.

TV and live online coverage
The match will be televised live on BT Sport 2, with coverage starting from 5.30pm. BT Sport subscribers will be able to stream the match online via the video player and the BT Sport app.

You can follow all the build-up and action from 5pm with New Gersy blog.

Team News

The hosts will be without the services of Andrea Conti and Luca Antonelli, while Ignazio Abate is considered a doubt. Other than that, Gattuso has a full complement of players ready to play at San Siro.

Potential AC Milan starting XI: G. Donnarumma; Rodriguez, Bonucci, Romagnoli, Calabria; Biglia, Kessie, Bonaventura; Suso, Calhanoglu, Cutrone.

Hector Bellerin is missing from the Arsenal squad, with the right-back absent with a knee injury, with fellow defender Nacho Monreal also left at home as he failed to recover from a back problem in time to be involved.

Alexandre Lacazette (knee) is out while club-record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is cup-tied. Danny Welbeck is the only recognised senior striker available to manager Wenger.

Arsenal will be without Nacho Monreal in defence as the Spaniard continues to recover from a back injury, while Alexandre Lacazette and Santi Cazorla are long-term absentees. As well as that, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible.

Potential Arsenal starting XI: Ospina; Koscielny, Mustafi, Chambers; Bellerin, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil; Welbeck
