Pep Guardiola's Manchester City must face the pressure of being Premier League champions-elect as they host Southampton on Wednesday.

A late 2-1 win at Huddersfield on Sunday saw City restore their eight-point advantage over Manchester United at the top of the table after just 13 games.

The manner of City's celebrations in Huddersfield suggested Guardiola and his players knew what a key win it could be in the context of the title race, and many pundits have already declared that they are uncatchable this season.

Southampton have been far from their best so far this term, but a morale-boosting 4-1 win over Everton on Sunday will send Mauricio Pellegrino's Saints to the Etihad Stadium on a high.

Start time

Man City host Southampton at Etihad Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 8pm on Wednesday, November 29.

TV and live online coverage

The match will not be televised like in the UK.

Team news

Manchester City
City remain without defenders John Stones and Benjamin Mendy for the visit of Southampton.

Centre-back Stones (hamstring) is likely to be out until the end of December while Mendy (knee) is not expected to play again until April.

Eliaquim Mangala is in contention to play in central defence if captain Vincent Kompany, only recently returned from a hamstring injury, is rested.

Southampton
Southampton will welcome central midfielder Oriol Romeu back from suspension.

The Spaniard sat out Sunday's 4-1 success over Everton after being handed a one-game ban for picking up five yellow cards.

Fellow midfielder Mario Lemina returned from an ankle problem as a second-half substitute against the Toffees and came through unscathed, but defender Matt Targett (leg) remains sidelined.

John Stones is out for six weeks with a hamstring injury, joining long-term absentee Benjamin Mendy on the sidelines.

Predicted line-ups

Man City starting XI: Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Kompany, Delph, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Silva, Sane, Jesus, Sterling

Southampton starting XI: Forster, Soares, Van Dijk, Hoedt, Bertrand, Davis, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Boufal, Austin
