On Sunday, Poland plays Italy in the Nations League. Jerzy Brzęczek's side host the former World Cup winners on matchday four in Group 3 of League A.

Italy are currently on a five-game winless streak ahead of their upcoming Nations League clash with Poland.

Roberto Mancini’s side is bottom of their group and in desperate need of three points after a draw and a defeat in their opening two matches of the tournament.

A 1-1 draw with Poland last month was followed by a 1-0 loss to Portugal, while honors were even in a friendly against Ukraine on Wednesday.

Goals are a problem for the Italians, with Chelsea midfielder Jorginho bagging their only strike of the Nations League so far from the penalty spot.

Both teams will be desperate for a win as they each sit on a single point after two games. They each trail Portugal, who lead their group with a maximum six points from six.

The Blues ace is expected to continue alongside Marco Verratti in Mancini’s preferred 4-3-3 formation, although team selection is far from predictable.

Nicole Barella was handed his debut in midfield against Ukraine but is likely to drop to the bench with either Lorenzo Pellegrini or Roberto Gagliardini coming into the side.

Meanwhile, Lazio frontman Ciro Immobile could miss out after Federico Bernardeschi was preferred up front against Andriy Shevchenko’s men.

The Juventus ace scored from the unfamiliar central role and may have done enough to earn another start, while Lorenzo Insigne is an almost certain pick on the left wing.

Federico Chiesa is expected to start on the opposite flank while Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini will feature at centre-back after their club partnership at Juventus was renewed this summer.

Young stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma will start in goal while Kevin Lasagna has been called up to the squad as cover for the injured Simone Zaza.

Team News

Robert Lewandowski won his 100th cap for Poland in the 3-2 loss to Portugal on Thursday night and should feature once more.

Federico Bernardeschi scored for Italy in the 1-1 draw against Ukraine on Wednesday night and along with Lorenzo Insigne and Jorginho, he can expect to start again against Poland.

Italy's poor run over the last 12 months has seen them failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight matches, with experienced defenders like Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci looking infinitely less convincing for the country than they are for their clubs.

However, Mancini's side has managed to score in six of their eight games this year, with four of those eight matches ending in 1-1 scorelines.

Poland, for their part, can generally be relied upon to score, with Jerzy Brzęczek's team scoring in each of their four matches since the World Cup.
