Blackburn captain Charlie Mulgrew could return to face Sheffield United in the Championship after missing four games.

Derrick Williams is available after serving a one-match suspension but fellow Rovers defender Ryan Nyambe misses out due to a hamstring injury.

The Blades have no fresh injury concerns for Wednesday night's game.

Jake Wright and Kean Bryan are both close to making first team returns having missed the start of the season, but the Blackburn trip comes too soon.

Blackburn will be without defender Ryan Nyambe for Wednesday's Championship clash with Sheffield United.

The 20-year-old suffered a hamstring problem during the second half of the weekend's draw with Nottingham Forest and is set to be assessed later this week.

Captain Charlie Mulgrew, who has missed the last four matches through injury and illness, could return, while Derrick Williams is available again after serving his one-match ban. 

Rovers have only been beaten once so far in the Championship but have drawn six of their 10 matches and sit 13th in the table.

Team News

Defensive duo Charlie Mulgrew and Derrick Williams could return following injury and suspension respectively, as could striker Ben Brereton, who was ineligible to play against his former club at the weekend. 

Right-back Ryan Nyambe could miss out after being withdrawn with a hamstring problem against Forest, and Dominic Samuel (ACL) and Ben Gladwin (knee) remain long-term absentees. 

Tony Mowbray is expected to give further updates in his pre-match press conference. Both starting line-ups will be revealed an hour before kick-off on matchday via social media.

This is the 147th meeting between Blackburn and Sheffield United in all competitions, but the first since February 2007, a 2-1 win for Blackburn in the Premier League.

Sheffield United's last away win at Blackburn was in November 1986 in a second-tier match, a 2-0 victory with both goals from Tony Daws.
