Meanwhile, Spurs will seek to consolidate their position in the top four against a side they defeated 2-0 in the reverse fixture at Wembley.

Both sides will be looking to bounce back after disappointing defeats last weekend - the Lilywhites were outplayed by City at Wembley, while the Seagulls succumbed to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park after conceding three first half goals.

Brighton vs Tottenham | Premier League | Tuesday, 7.45pm BST

Tottenham look to return to winning ways on Tuesday’s night clash on the south coast after seeing their 14-match unbeaten run ended by Manchester City.

Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat was Spurs’ first lost in the league of 2018, and their first since they lost away to the now champions back in December.

Brighton, meanwhile, are looking to bounce back from their defeat at rivals Crystal Palace and create a buffer between themselves and the drop zone. Albeit in 13th, Chris Hughton’s side are only seven points above the drop zone and facing a very tough run-in.

Significantly for the visitors, three points will guarantee a second successive league finish above Arsenal and restore their 10-point advantage over Chelsea.

Team news
Brighton will likely field the same side that started Saturday’s defeat at Crystal Palace, with Glenn Murray hoping to have more luck in front of goal this time round.

Dutch midfielder Davy Propper remains suspended for the Seagulls, while Isiah Brown (ACL knee) and Steve Sidwell (back) both sidelined with long-term injuries.

For Tottenham, Serge Aurier and Heung-min Son are expected to return to the starting line-up as Pochettino shuffles his pack ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final, with Kieran Trippier and Erik Lamela set to make way.

Defender Jan Vertonghen was seen clutching his back against City at the weekend, but he is expected to play. Pochettino has insisted that Toby Alderweireld – with his speculation continuing over his future - will play some part on Tuesday, in what will be his first appearance for the club since the 2-2 draw with Rochdale back in February.

Ben Davies will continue at left back with Danny Rose still struggling with a calf strain, while Harry Winks (ankle) and Kyle Walker-Peters (hamstring) is also ruled out.

Predicted line-ups
Brighton (4-4-1-1): Ryan; Schelotto, Dunk, Duffy, Bong; Locadia, Stephens, Kayal, Izquierdo; Gross; Murray

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Lloris; Aurier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Wanyama, Dembele; Eriksen, Alli, Son, Kane
