Rafa Benitez faces a big Premier League test on his return to Anfield on Saturday as Newcastle will have to find a way to stop Jurgen Klopp's free-scoring Liverpool.

Liverpool have scored nine goals in their last two games, thrashing Porto 5-0 away in the Champions League before dismantling West Ham 4-1 at Anfield to briefly go second in the table.

Manchester United retook second spot by beating Chelsea, but the race to finish in the top four is heating up with Champions League qualification on the line as just six points separate second from fifth.

Klopp's Reds may be high in confidence with Mohamed Salah pushing Harry Kane in the Golden Boot race, but Benitez's relegation-threatened Magpies are unbeaten in four League games ahead of their trip to Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp could start with the XI which beat West Ham 4-1 last weekend, with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all finding the net once again.

Jonjo Shelvey will play no part against his former club due to a knee injury, while Islam Slimani is sidelined with a thigh strain.

Striker Dwight Gayle faces a late fitness test before the game, and Jesus Gamez has failed to recover from an ankle injury.
