The new year had looked to start with one of Tottenham's easier-looking fixtures of the season, but Mauricio Pochettino's side will be wary of a new manager bounce as Carlos Carvalhal comes in after replacing Paul Clement.

Swansea City recorded an impressive 2-1 win away at Watford last Saturday, and Spurs were held to goalless draw at Wembley when the Swans came to London earlier in the season.

But who will come out on top at the Liberty Stadium?

Team news

Swansea City
Swansea face a striking headache with Tammy Abraham is a doubt for the match.

The striker has been struggling with a stomach injury and limped off early in the second half against Watford on Saturday.

Wilfried Bony could replace Abraham if he can shake off a hamstring problem. Ki Sung-yueng (calf) and Kyle Bartley (knee ligaments) are likely to miss out again.

Tottenham Spours
Tottenham striker Harry Kane is a doubt for the match after missing training on Friday due to illness.

Kane, who has scored hat-tricks in consecutive games, missed training on Friday but the manager was hoping the England international will still have enough time to recover.

Should he miss out, then Fernando Llorente could be given his first Premier League start of the season – against the club he left last summer.

Elsewhere, Mousa Dembele is not expected to feature after sustaining a knock in the 5-2 win over Southampton and. Harry Winks will likely come in.

Otherwise, Victor Wanyama has returned to training but could be saved for the FA Cup tie with AFC Wimbledon five days later and Toby Alderweireld remains out.

Predicted line-ups
Swansea City starting XI: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson; Routledge, Fer, Mesa, Carroll, Ayew; Abraham

Tottenham starting XI: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Winks, Dier; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane
