Premier League leaders Manchester City must be wary on Wednesday night as they face a West Brom side capable of delivering a shock.

Pep Guardiola's City have been utterly dominant this season as they storm towards the title, with second-placed Manchester United lagging 12 points behind with 14 games remaining.

But while City may be confident of beating any team in Europe given their form this term, Alan Pardew's Baggies head to Etihad Stadium full of confidence fresh off the back of a surprise 3-2 FA Cup win against Liverpool at Anfield.

MAN CITY TEAM NEWS

Pep Guardiola called for players to get better protection after Leroy Sane was left facing a spell on the sidelines following the 2-0 FA Cup win at Cardiff.

Guardiola was left counting the cost of a fourth-round victory secured by first-half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.

Sane failed to come out for the second half after Joe Bennett's high tackle left the Germany winger with an ankle injury, and the Cardiff defender was sent off in the final seconds for another poor challenge on City substitute Brahim Diaz.

"He (Sane) will be out for a while - minimum two weeks, three weeks, one month, we will see tomorrow exactly," said City manager Guardiola. "I said many times the only thing they (referees) have to do is protect the players.

"I can accept our disallowed goal, I don't know why but I accept. But please protect the players."

West Brom
Daniel Sturridge could be involved for West Brom, having completed a loan move from Liverpool on Monday.

But the Baggies have a number of injuries to contend with, thanks in no small part to their FA Cup against Sturridge's parent club at the weekend.

Both Jake Livermore and Jonny Evans picked up hamstring injuries at Anfield and are touch-and-go for Wednesday's game.

Kieran Gibbs, Gareth McAuley, Sam Field and Hal Robson-Kanu are also doubts, while James Morrison and Nacer Chadli are ruled out.
