Liverpool vs Everton: Premier League The Merseyside Derby

The Merseyside derby kicks off a huge day of football live on Sky Sports Premier League as Liverpool and Everton do battle at Anfield, with coverage beginning at 1pm on Super Sunday.

It will be Sam Allardyce's third game in charge of the Toffees with his side hitting a spot of good form at just the right time, keeping clean sheets in each of their last three outings, including a 3-0 win against Apollon Limassol in the Europa League on Thursday.

Jurgen Klopp and Sam Allardyce will both head into Sunday's Merseyside derby full of confidence as Liverpool host Everton at Anfield.

Liverpool are on a superb run of form having scored 15 goals in their last three games in all competitions, but still trail Premier League leaders Manchester City by 14 points.

Everton initially looked to be heading for a relegation battle after a terrible start to the season following a summer spending spree, but the Toffees have won their last two League games without conceding a goal to quickly climb to 10th in the table.

Relegation specialist Sam Allardyce has been drafted in at Goodison Park, and the former England boss is the last manager to claim an away win at Anfield having shocked Liverpool with Crystal Palace last season.

Team News

Alberto Moreno is doubtful for the derby after sustaining an injury in Wednesday's 7-0 Champions League win over Spartak Moscow.

Should the Spaniard miss out, James Milner will likely deputise at left-back. Simon Mignolet is expected to return in goal after Loris Karius started against Spartak.

Allardyce is unlikely to switch from the Everton XI which has beaten West Ham 4-0 and Huddersfield 2-0, though Michael Keane is in contention to start.

Phil Jagielka is set to return to the Everton squad for Sunday's Merseyside derby.

The defender missed the Premier League victories over West Ham and Huddersfield but is fit again, although he and Michael Keane may have to settle for spots on the bench after back-to-back clean sheets.

James McCarthy and Yannick Bolasie are back in training and nearing returns but both will be given run-outs for the U23 side before being considered for the first team.

Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno could be sidelined for up to six weeks with an ankle injury.

The defender will be assessed by a second specialist over the weekend but the fear is the problem, sustained in Wednesday's win over Spartak Moscow, could keep him out until the new year.

James Milner is likely to fill the vacancy for Sunday's clash while captain Jordan Henderson is set to start in midfield after sitting out in midweek.

Predicted line up

Liverpool starting XI: Mignolet, Gomez, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Mane, Wijnaldum, Can, Coutinho, Salah, Firmino

Everton starting XI: Pickford, Kenny, Holgate, Williams, Martina, Gueye, Lennon, Davies, Rooney, Sigurdsson, Calvert-Lewin
