Team News

Chelsea and StokeCity
While Conte has revealed Luiz is "close" to a full recovery, neither he nor Charly Musonda (groin) are expected to feature until next weekend.

The Premier League's most porous defence - one that has leaked 41 goals in 20 games - will likely be without Ryan Shawcross, Bruno Martins Indi and Kurt Zouma at Stamford Bridge.

Shawcross (calf) was forced off in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield and is out for at least two weeks, while Martins Indi (groin) is sidelined for a similar period.

Zouma is ineligible against his parent club, while Glen Johnson (knee) is also unavailable, but full-back Erik Pieters could feature.

Andreas Christensen could return to the Chelsea side against Stoke after missing the win over Brighton with illness.

Club captain Gary Cahill deputised for Christensen, but could drop to the bench while David Luiz remains sidelines with a knee injury.

Stoke are in the midst of a defensive crisis, with Mark Hughes set to be missing three centre-backs.

Mark Hughes is facing something of a defensive crisis after Ryan Shawcross was forced off in Stoke's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

The Potters are also without Bruno Martins Indi, while Kurt Zouma will be unavailable against his parent club.

Hughes said: “We might be able to get Erik Pieters back at the weekend. That will be touch and go. Bruno’s probably another two-and-a-half weeks away.”
