Chelsea vs Bournemouth: Carabao Cup

Antonio Conte will hand some of his fringe players an opportunity to impress in Chelsea's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Conte conceded that Chelsea are highly unlikely to catch Manchester City in the Premier League after their 1-0 defeat to West Ham earlier this month, but his side are still competing on four fronts this season.

And with fixtures coming thick and fast for the Blues, the Italian plans to rotate his squad for the visit of Bournemouth.

Antonio Conte will make a number of changes as Chelsea target a place in the last four of the EFL Cup.

The Blues edged past Southampton in the Premier League at the weekend, and face Everton on Saturday before trips to Brighton and Stoke ahead of the turn of the year.

Conte is keen to rotate his squad for the EFL Cup, but will be conscious not to risk the club's place in the competition by fielding a complete second-string side.

Team News

Chelsea left wing-back Marcos Alonso is suspended, and Conte plans to give his peripheral players a chance.

Alonso picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in last Saturday's 1-0 win over Southampton and could be replaced by Kenedy, who played in the prior two rounds in the competition.

Ethan Ampadu could start alongside the likes of Danny Drinkwater and Michy Batshuayi, while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Dujon Sterling could also be involved, but Charly Musonda (groin) and David Luiz (knee) are out.

Provisional squad: Courtois, Caballero, Rudiger, Alonso, Fabregas, Drinkwater, Kante, Morata, Hazard, Pedro, Bakayoko, Moses, Kenedy, Zappacosta, Willian, Batshuayi, Cahill, Christensen, Azpilicueta, Clarke-Salter, Sterling, Eduardo, Ampadu, Hudson-Odoi.

Bournemouth will be without Charlie Daniels and Joshua King. Daniels (groin) and King (hamstring) both picked up injuries in the Cherries' heavy home defeat against Liverpool last weekend, but could be available for the trip to Manchester City on Saturday.

Striker Callum Wilson may feature, but Brad Smith (hip), Adam Federici and Tyrone Mings (both back) are out.

Provisional squad: Begovic, S Cook, Francis, Ake, Surman, L Cook, Fraser, Stanislas, Defoe, Boruc, Simpson, Gosling, Arter, Afobe, Ibe, Wilson, A Smith.

Predicted starting line-ups
Chelsea XI: Caballero, Rudiger, Christensen, Cahill, Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Kenedy, Pedro, Batshuayi, Musonda

Bournemouth XI: Begovic, Smith, Francis, Ake, Daniels, Cook, Surman, Ibe, King, Pugh, Defoe
